Biographical Statement:

Dr. Tyson has over 25 years academic and applied experience planning, implementing and evaluating strategic public communication campaigns and nonformal education/training projects. Most of his professional activities concern environmental issues. He is Professor in the Department of Communication at Central Connecticut State University where he teaches courses in strategic public communication, persuasion/social influence, public relations, environmental communication, group/team communication, and research methods. From

1998-2003 he was Director of Central Connecticut State University's Center for Social Research. He has worked professionally in the U.S., east and southern Africa, the West Indies, and New Zealand. From 2004-06 Dr. Tyson was director of a USAID/ALO funded community tourism project in Jamaica; from 1993-94, he was Director of a USAID funded global environmental education and communication project; and from 1986-1991 he was Program Leader for extension education/communication issues for a large USAID funded agriculture/environmental institutional support project in southern Africa. He has extensive survey and experimental research experience, program evaluation experience, and advanced qualitative/quantitative analysis skills and has published over 25 books, book chapters and journal articles.
