Biographical Statement:
Dr Birgitta Gatersleben is lecturer in Environmental Psychology at the University of Surrey. She is also Course Director of the Modular MSc programme in Environmental Psychology. Most of her work concentrates on sustainable consumption and transport. At the moment she is involved in a 5-year, cross- disciplinary, research programme at the University of Surrey, which aims to understand the links between lifestyles, values and the environment (RESOLVE). In recent years she has worked on other interdisciplinary research projects on sustainable consumption including ToolSust (Tools for Sustainable Households in the City of Tomorrow) and she conducted her PhD research as part of the multidsciplinary research programme HOMES (Household Metabolism Effectively Sustainable). From 1998 until 2001 she was a post Doctoral Scholar at the University, where she was working on a three year research project studying local transport patterns and options for change.
